Rudolph with the red nose.
Reindeer play an important role in Nordic mythology and culture during the Christmas season. In many parts of the world, especially in Scandinavia, reindeer are also a popular symbol of Christmas and are often used in Christmas decorations, gifts, and stories.
In Nordic mythology, reindeer are often depicted as the animals of Santa Claus, who travels through the sky with them to distribute gifts to children around the world. Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, is often portrayed with his sleigh pulled by eight reindeer. These eight reindeer are traditionally named Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. Rudolph, the most famous reindeer, has a red nose and is often depicted as the lead reindeer.
During the Christmas season, there are also many songs in which reindeer play an important role, such as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," which are sung about Santa Claus and his reindeer. Reindeer are, therefore, an essential part of the Christmas season and are celebrated worldwide in many different traditions and customs.
